TEACHER OF BUSINESS
King Edward VI College are currently recruiting for a permanent post due to start in August. We are interested in both full time and part time teachers to fill this role. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with enthusiasm and drive who wishes to work in a strongly academic sixth form college, which is committed to lively, student-centred teaching and a concern for meeting the needs of individual students.
Applications will be welcomed from well-qualified graduates, wishing to begin their teaching career by specialising in sixth form teaching. Newly qualified teachers are able to acquire Qualified Teacher Status at sixth form colleges and the college arranges for the necessary pre-16 teaching experience at one of our partner 11-16 schools. For experienced teachers, post-16 experience in sixth form, tertiary or general FE colleges and maintained or independent schools will be equally relevant. Although a postgraduate teaching qualification is preferred, applicants without such a qualification are also encouraged to apply. The college is fully committed to supporting all members of staff through staff development and in-service training.
There are currently 239 students (126 students in year 12 and 113 students in year 13) studying A Level Business with the EDUQAS examination board. The subject is an expanding area of the College’s curriculum and is popular with students. Students learn through a variety of teaching and learning methods and activities. The subject area is staffed by four experienced and well-qualified staff, who are committed to establishing a positive environment that promotes high quality learning. Students enjoy Business for a variety of reasons, including learning in a dynamic and stimulating learning environment, an accessible and clear specification to help and guide their learning, the range of topics that they study to keep their interest levels high, and the opportunity to develop skills of critical analysis and critical evaluation right from the start of the course. The subject area is well-resourced and there is a commitment of staff to sharing ideas and contributing to making Business even better for students. Students have the opportunity to go on trips and attend events at the College hosted by external speakers.
We would be particularly interested in Business Teachers who are also able to teach accounting and economics.
