Job overview

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic and committed teacher who is passionate about teaching Business Studies and Economics to Key Stage 3-5. The ability to teach to A Level Economics is essential.

We are looking for a teacher with drive, energy, and a genuine love for teaching and learning. You will have outstanding teaching practice to ensure all our students receive a first class education.

This is a unique opportunity to inspire students about the global market at a very early age in a school in its infancy and to help shape its ethos, ambitions and values.

Myddelton College is an independent school for 9-18 year olds, located on an impressive 37 acre campus in Denbigh, North Wales. We are easily accessible to North & Mid Wales, Chester and the North West of England and we draw our students from all over the world.

We opened our doors to 80 students in September 2016 and almost doubled in size in September 2017, with 150 students. We have further plans to expand rapidly over the next 3 years and are on course to increase to approximately 220 students in September 2018.

We are a forward thinking and highly ambitious school looking to revolutionise the current system of education. We are an accredited Microsoft Associate Showcase School and we deliver all of our lessons using the Office 365 suite of Apps. Having designed a truly 21st Century curriculum, we are looking for an outstanding leader to join our team of highly committed teachers and to take the lead in developing our pedagogy and curriculum.

All teachers at Myddelton College contribute to extra-curricular activities and to boarding life at the college and carry out one evening boarding duty (non-residential) per fortnight. There is the possibility of accommodation being made available on site but this is not a requirement of the position.

At Myddelton College, we are passionate about the professional development of our staff and pride ourselves in delivering high quality CPD on a regular basis.

The college takes its name from the renowned Myddelton family who, dating back to the 15th Century, were eminent figures in the history of Denbighshire and Wales, having been Members of Parliament for the local area as well as contributing to wider society across the United Kingdom. Richard Myddelton was a prosperous wool merchant and governor of Denbigh Castle. One of his sons, Sir Henry Myddelton, was an entrepreneur and engineer. Another son, Thomas Myddelton, was Lord Mayor of London in 1613 and was one of the richest men in the kingdom when he died in January 1667.

The impressive college campus, situated at the foot of the 13th Century fortress of Denbigh Castle, dates back to 1859 and contains the perfect blend of historic architecture with modern facilities, including 5 magnificent Grade II listed buildings – the Main Block, Drapers Wing, Science Block and 3 boarding houses (St George’s, St Andrew’s and St Patrick’s) – as well as St David’s Church, a sports complex, equestrian centre with jumping & riding arenas, outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, games courts & sports pitches and a pavilion. There is also a Headmaster’s house, Stanley boarding house and lots of communal areas for students to relax, socialise and study in the tranquillity of the beautifully landscaped grounds.
