HEADTEACHER :  Mrs. K. O’Neill, M.A.

Qualified Teachers' Pay Spine + Outer London Allowance

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an 11-18 Roman Catholic Girls’ School which was rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in November 2013 for the third consecutive time. The School is situated in a delightful area and is very well served by fast (20 minutes) and award-winning public transport links to Central London but without the high Central London property rents and purchase prices. We are a thriving and happy school community with a strong family ethos and an excellent reputation leading to heavy oversubscription.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic full-time teacher of Business Studies for September 2018. The School offers a range of courses at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 and the ability and willingness to teach at post 16 are essential. The School maintains a Business and Enterprise specialism and the Business Studies department provides a wide variety of courses, including Economics and Business Studies to A-Level, IFS and BTEC courses post 16 as well as a very popular Business Studies course at GCSE. The School is an active, enthusiastic and successful participant in the Career Ready Scheme and has an excellent track record in terms of attainment and of the value it adds to pupils of all abilities.

The appointee will be an excellent teacher with a desire to make a difference to students’ lives. Given the right skills, the post will be of interest to a newly qualified teacher as the School has an extensive professional support programme.

The successful candidate will:

 • Be well qualified and enthusiastic

 • Be able to teach across the 11-18 age range including A Level

 • Be passionate about Business Studies and committed to improving teaching and learning

• Have good interpersonal and presentational skills

• Be forward thinking, inspirational, receptive to change, and able to work   under pressure

In return we offer:

 • An opportunity to be part of a dynamic and creative team

 • A supportive environment in which your talent and commitment will be encouraged, nurtured and rewarded

 • A warm welcome from a thriving and happy school community with a strong family ethos

The School is a short walk from Upminster town centre and station where Overground (C2C) and Underground (District Line) services are available; the School is also a short drive from the M25, A12 and A13. The locality is also well served by frequent bus services.

 For an informal discussion about this post please contact the Curriculum Leader of Computing and Business Studies, Mr N. Oranu.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. This post is exempt from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

 Completed application form (available on the school website), letters of application and the names and addresses of two referees should be sent to the Headteacher at the School by email.  CLOSING DATE: Friday, 23 March 2018

About Sacred Heart of Mary Girls' School

The School’s Mission Statement And Aims
The Sacred Heart of Mary Girls’ School is a community of faith with Jesus Christ at its centre and where prayer is part of our daily lives. In our school, we aim to bring out the best in everyone and we are committed to the pursuit of excellence. Gospel values such as honesty, patience, kindness and forgiveness are at the heart of our relationships. We show concern and respect for individuals, valuing each member of our school community as a unique person created in God’s image and loved by Him. While encouraging pupils to become young Christian adults who have a love and appreciation of their own faith, we also help them to have an understanding and respect for other traditions and faiths. Our aim at all times is to recognise Jesus Christ as ‘the Truth’. It is only by believing in Him, and by making Him the centre of our lives, that we can ever be completely happy and completely free.

In the light of our Mission Statement we aim:
To provide a caring, disciplined and stable environment in which teaching and learning can take place, and in which each pupil is respected as a unique person with God given gifts, qualities and particular needs;

To enable pupils to achieve their potential in academic studies, and to assist their intellectual, spiritual, moral, cultural, aesthetic, emotional and physical development in preparation for adult life and family responsibilities;

To help pupils develop respect, tolerance and concern for others, an appreciation of the complexity of the world around them and its cultural diversity, and to become responsible citizens;

To create a happy and purposeful Christian community which will enable pupils to grow in understanding of their faith and of themselves, to enjoy relationships based on trust, courtesy, kindness and co-operation, and to develop confidence and a joy in learning as a sound basis for further/higher education, satisfying careers/vocations and a full life.
