We wish to appoint a talented and enthusiastic teacher of Business Studies to join a successful and high achieving school where students enjoy learning and achieve excellent outcomes. Applications are invited from individuals of all faiths and none, who will support the catholic ethos of our school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to teach students across a broad ability range. A substantial number of students take Business at Key Stages 4 and 5, with A Level teaching available for suitable candidates. The department also has a thriving Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC. 

Our repeatedly oversubscribed School achieved 80% 5 A*-C (4+) including Maths and English in 2017 and the Sixth Form received an ‘outstanding’ ALP’s judgement in 2016. In our previous Ofsted Section 5 inspection both ‘Behaviour & Safety’ and our Sixth Form were judged ‘outstanding’. In our most recent monitoring visit (January 2018) Ofsted stated that the ‘…steady and reassuring approach ensures the srong commitmnt of staff…’ and ‘the teachers are welcoming and friendly, and it creates an atmosphere where you belong …’

The department achieves consistently outstanding results - in June 2017 75% A*-C GCSE in Business Studies and an A level ALPs judgement 2016 ‘Outstanding’. The successful candidate will join a dedicated and talented department, of five full time staff who have consistently delivered outstanding results. At GCSE in 2017, 20% of students secured an A*-A grade in Business and 78% A*-C grade. In Economics, 87% of students achieved A*-C with over a third achieving A*-A. At A-level, 88% of students in business studies secured an A*-C, with 93% in economics, with the majority of them going onto Russell Group Universities to study Business or Economics related degrees. Business and Economics received an ALPs judgement of ‘Outstanding’ in 2016.

The department also teaches both the Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC courses with incredible success. In Level 2 we achieved 100% pass rate in 2017, with over a third achieving a merit or above. In Level 3, over half our students achieve a distinction or higher.

Salary payable is on the Teachers Main Scale, including Outer London Weighting.

John Fisher is an oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school with 1155 students including 223 in the Sixth Form. We are located just outside Purley town centre and a 15 minute walk from the train station (27 minutes from London Bridge and 20 minutes from Gatwick Airport).
