The Academy is proud of its work to improve outcomes for students in an inclusive, supportive environment. Our longstanding 1:1 device programme allows WA to thrive as both an on-site and remote learning environment.

Our Humanities department

Business Studies is an incredibly popular subject within the school with an outstanding track record of success. The department is extremely well resourced and is undertaking an exciting curriculum change to further enhance the delivery of the subject in line with new specifications. Our central location enables the faculty to access an extensive network of business contacts, which enables real opportunities for students to find engaging opportunities in the world of business.

Our Humanities curriculum and pedagogy

At Key Stage 4, we currently offer the Level 2 BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise and Travel & Tourism, while in the Sixth Form, we offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, offering both Business Management and Economics, alongside the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business Studies as part of the IB Career-Related Programme.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • An excellent classroom teacher who is committed to the success of each individual student
  • Flexible to work in other areas within the Humanities department
  • Experienced in teaching the relevant subject(s) with a relevant university degree
  • Able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their own professional growth and development
  • Passionate about their subject to inspire our students

What we offer:

  • A competitive salary and benefits package
  • Additional responsibilities remunerated via an Extra Responsibilities Allowance (ERA)
  • Sign-up incentives available for experienced IB educators
  • An excellent programme of continuing professional development
  • Relevant training with the International Baccalaureate for teachers of Key Stage 5
  • A commitment to staff wellbeing, including access to the local gym, weekly fitness sessions, staff social events, and Perkbox membership with associated benefits
