Job overview

William Ellis School is a boys' school with a large mixed sixth form in the north of Camden. It is in an attractive site on the edge of Hampstead Heath with excellent access to Central London. It is a neighbourhood of great social and cultural diversity, and this diversity is very well represented at William Ellis. We educate some very able young people alongside a considerable number who are significantly disadvantaged.

The school is committed to nurturing successful students and good citizens through strong relationships in line with the school motto, “rather use than fame”. The school is part of the longest established and most successful mixed sixth form consortium in London, LaSWAP, which enables our students to access a wide range of subject expertise. We provide excellent professional opportunities for staff and are part of the Camden family of schools.

We are looking for a Science teacher who can bring commitment and expertise to our curriculum offer, supporting and teaching students across all key stages. The department offers an ambitious and rich curriculum including A Level and a post-16 vocational offer. The successful candidate would be joining a strong and experienced team of teachers and leaders who have a track record of supporting high attainment at GCSE and A Level. You would have the opportunity to work with students across the attainment range including GCSE and A Level classes, and would be supported in your professional development whatever your stage of teaching career.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A highly motivated and inspirational classroom practitioner.
  • Committed to maximising pupil progress through setting high standards and by delivering effective teaching and learning.
  • Able to inspire, lead, support and challenge students to be successful.

If you are seeking a challenging and highly rewarding position, enriching the lives of students and the local community, we look forward to hearing from you.

Interested candidates are welcome to contact the school on 020 7267 9346 for an informal conversation with a senior leader about the role and the school, or to arrange a visit.
