Job overview

Teacher of Chemistry (Suitable for NQT’s)

A dynamic experienced or newly qualified teacher with experience of teaching Chemistry to IGCSE Level is required to join our well-resourced, committed and innovative Science Faculty. The ability to teach IB in the future would be advantageous as would some experience of IGCSE Mathematics.

The successful candidate will have a passion for their subject and the ability to inspire, enthuse and engage students.

We are a team of innovative and highly motivated teachers who constantly strive to provide the finest education and ever expanding opportunities; it is this passion which enables us to get the very best out of our students while fostering a love of learning through the delivery of high quality, exciting and active lessons. Students take part in a variety of extra-curricular science events and competitions such as STEAM Club, trips to CERN and entry in the Science Olympiads.

The successful candidate will be willing to contribute to the extra-curricular life of a vibrant faculty and wider school programme.

Following our recent British Schools inspection, we achieved ‘Excellent’ in all categories and we continue to work hard to maintain this and further develop to provide the very best holistic education for all our students. We are a non-selective school and cater for SEND and EAL students; some who speak little or no English on arrival. We offer a personalised programme through our learning pathways and intensive support to enable access to the full curriculum.

Job Outline:

  • Teach KS4/IGCSE Chemistry and Combined Science
  • Take an active role as a form tutor and contribute to PSHCE
  • Potential to teach Year 10 Maths (Desirable)
  • Motivate and build confidence in students and build trust among colleagues
  • Work closely with colleagues during teaching activities and adapt flexibly into a multi-language environment
  • Monitor progress of students and provide interventions to ensure they reach their true potential
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team and contribute to cross curricular and cross site activities

As a Nord Anglia school we have the benefit of a collaboration with MIT and in June 2021 we will be hosting the STEAM festival for the European Region. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your creativity and passion for your subject through this event and inspire some of the top scientists from across our schools.
