The academy was last inspected by Ofsted in March 2017 and was judged ‘Outstanding’ in all areas of the inspection. Previously it was judged ‘Good’ in February 2013.
The Academy’s Sponsors - Sellafield Limited, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the University of Central Lancashire – have each played an important role in its success and are committed to its continued improvement. The academy has been heavily oversubscribed for the past 4 years. In September 2017 our number on roll is 1203, in years 7 – 13.
We are part of the Western Lakes Teaching Schools Alliance and are building strong links with other schools in the area and we have recently been awarded National Teaching School status.
We have an exciting opportunity for committed and inspirational teachers to join a collaborative and experienced team with a passion for science. You will be supported by an exceptional team of technicians and will be prepared to work hard to ensure that every student makes exceptional progress.
We have science as a specialism and are equipped with nine, state-of-the-art teaching labs that have a full range of traditional science equipment and extensive 21st century ICT facilities to provide a truly outstanding learning environment. We benefit considerably from our sponsors, Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. We also have close links with our Education Partner, UCLan.
