Job overview

IKB Academy is seeking a committed and enthusiastic teacher of chemistry who can teach up to A Level to join our thriving team of staff and students and assume this exciting and unique opportunity in our growing school.

IKB welcomed its first students in September 2015 we are now seeking to appoint a number of talented and inspirational teachers and leaders, not only to meet the aims and ambitions of the school but also to support us as we grow, having attracted significantly increased applications into Year 10 and 12 for September 2018.

Our curriculum is focused around the STEM subjects and we provide high quality qualifications in line with high aspirations for student achievement, key skills and experiences that will enable our students to apply successfully for the most competitive university and apprenticeship places within the STEM areas of academia and industry.

We value the place of science at the core of our curriculum and this is reflected in the compulsory nature of triple science at GCSE and chemistry being a popular A level Science. As a result the science results at both GCSE and A level are impressive and as our reputation in the local area grows we aim to be the “Go To” institution for anyone wishing to study science.

The possible TLR involves the management of the curriculum in science and duties will include:

  • Overseeing the continued improvements in teaching resources
  • Keeping up to date with national curriculum and assessment changes in all the science disciplines
  • Overseeing the exam entries, tiers, teaching organisation and setting in science

This is an essential role in the support of science colleagues and has a direct impact on the outcomes for students. There is the possibility for an additional whole school TLR which can be discussed at interview.

IKB is a 14- 19 academy and part of Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, a partnership of schools which span the Bristol - Keynsham - Bath area that are working together to provide a high quality educational experience for all students in their care.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the direction and growth of the school promoting the values of a Studio School and fully preparing students for their futures. As a dedicated team at IKB we will offer bespoke professional development and support alongside the wider opportunities offered as part of the Wellsway Multi Academy Trust.
