Teacher of Classics

Queen’s Gate is a thriving GSA day school for girls aged 4 –18 and is ideally situated in Central London to take advantage of the many educational opportunities on offer. The Classics Department is well respected and renowned for its tradition of producing Oxbridge Classicists. The Department offers Latin, Classical Civilisation, Ancient Greek and Ancient History to A Level; Latin is a compulsory subject from          Years 5 – 8. 

We wish to appoint from September 2021 a well-qualified, passionate and knowledgeable teacher to join our thriving Classics Department. We offer Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation and Ancient History for GCSE and A level and a candidate should have consistent interest in all four subjects. The successful candidate will be a dedicated teacher with outstanding subject knowledge, and will contribute to all aspects of school life, including pastoral responsibilities. Teaching experience is an advantage, but NQTs are welcome to apply.

The Classics Department is highly successful, well resourced, and enthusiastic in its teaching and support of our pupils. The applicant should be able to teach Latin from years 7-13, and Classical Civilisation for GCSE and A level. A knowledge of Ancient Greek and Ancient History will be valued. The department runs a wide range of trips and visits, both locally and abroad and strives to keep Classics relevant in the modern world. 

The position may be full-time, or possibly 80% of full-time. Please state which you would prefer and if there is another subject you would wish to offer and to what level.
