Job overview
For September 2020, owing to an exciting phase of school growth, a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher or recent graduate is required to teach Computer Science to GCSE and A Level, our new and exciting Computing course to Year 9 and introduce Cambridge Technical in IT.
This role will bring an opportunity to be involved in further developing schemes of work for Third Form pupils in Computing, ICT and digital health. A willingness to play a role in the Digital Strategy Group and shape how teachers throughout College use digital technology in the classroom will be an advantage. This is an exciting time to join College and be part of the development of teaching and learning within the school.
In Computer Science, pupils learn, through a blend of practical and theory, how computers and computer systems work; developing understanding and skills in programming and the main principles of algorithmic problem solving. It is an exciting and extremely relevant subject; pupils explore current and emerging computing technologies, the benefits of their use and the potential risks they pose.
In addition to teaching their subject(s), members of Common Room are expected to act as tutors, be attached to day or boarding Houses and will wish to contribute to College’s rich co-curricular programme and participate in College’s professional development programme.

About Cheltenham College

Around 30 clubs operate weekly in the Senior School, including shooting, eco ventures, pottery and film-making.
A vast number of sports teams are nationally reputed and every year a substantial number of pupils are chosen to represent England. Music also plays a vital part in school life, with pupils able to learn just about every orchestral instrument imaginable as well as participating in numerous choirs, bands and ensembles. Crucially, this focus on balanced education also ensures that Cheltenham College gets the very best out of its pupils academically. In the Preparatory School, there is a 100% Common Entrance pass rate and many pupils gain Senior School scholarships. In College, the more stretching iGCSE is offered in Maths, English Literature, Science, History and Geography and over 95% of school leavers go on to their first choice university.
