We wish to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Computer Science within the faculty, to join our innovative and highly successful Mathematics and Computing Team at The Gilberd School.  GCSE results in the faculty are consistently outstanding.  In addition our students across both Key Stages take part in an extensive range of exciting extra-curricular STEM activities.

Proven teaching success and the ability to inspire students is essential.  This post is suitable for someone with experience, or new to the profession.  We are committed to the development of our staff as much as our students and we know this would be a great opportunity.

The Gilberd School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary with academy status in Colchester, Essex. At the most recent inspection, there were 1,350 students on the school roll, aged 11-16. 

The Gilberd School opened in 1912 and acquired academy status in September 2012. It is named for Dr William Gilberd, a Colchester native who was a medical adviser to Queen Elizabeth I and is known as the "father of electricity". The secondary school's extensive physical education facilities are let out to Highwoods Sport Centre on evenings and weekends.

The Gilberd School is characterised by a positive learning environment and excellent relationships between staff and pupils. Teachers believe children are more likely to be successful within a secure environment that supports them and allows them to grow and develop. The secondary school aims to ensure students leave not only with the best exam results possible, but also with the skills and attributes they need to succeed in their adult lives.

The curriculum is ambitious, with an emphasis on English, Maths and Science and the other English Baccalaureate subjects (Geography, History, French and German). The Gilberd School ensures that students have the opportunity to develop character and creativity through a range of artistic and practical courses, as well as through a diverse programme of extra-curricular activities.
