We have an opportunity for an outstanding Teacher of Computer Science to join the Science Faculty at William Hulme’s Grammar School, Manchester’s most over-subscribed school and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country.  WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1400 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.  The Academy has this year opened a brand new Sixth Form Centre which has marked the completion of a huge expansion project over the last two years, so this is a very exciting time to join the school.

Reporting to the Head of Faculty, you will be responsible for teaching Computer Science at Key Stages 3 and 4 and the ability to teach Computer Science to A level is essential.  You will be an outstanding teacher, delivering consistently good and outstanding lessons, an excellent team player with the highest standards pf professionalism and expectations of students. You will have up to date subject knowledge and a track record of success in maximising student progress across all key stages.

As well as being an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about the teaching of Computer Science you will also need to demonstrate a commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school.  Within the Science Faculty a large range of activities (clubs, trips and visits) take place.

Science is a very successful and high achieving faculty at WHGS which boasts outstanding GCSE results.  In recent years the Raiseonline/IDSR report has indicated the vast majority of science courses at KS4 are performing significantly above national standards. The uptake of science courses at A level is particularly strong.  The latest Ofsted Report (April 2014) stated that “the progress that students make in the secondary phase of the academy is currently, and has been for at least three years, outstanding, particularly in English and in mathematics”.  The faculty also has an excellent reputation for its success with the development and mentoring of trainee teachers.

William Hulme’s is part of United Learning, a leading group of over 50 academies and independent schools.  This enables us to offer you a comprehensive induction programme and unrivalled support and career development opportunities to ensure you achieve your career ambitions and aspirations.  Through the United Learning Hub, employees have access to a wide-range of CPD and the opportunity to share good practice with peers across the Group.  Employees of United Learning are offered a number of employee benefits through its reward scheme, including salary sacrifice schemes such as childcare vouchers, cycle to work schemes and mobile phone and computer schemes which offer tax and NI savings to you.  In addition, there are over 6,000 offers and discounts on top brands and local retailers.
