Job overview

Wardle Academy seeks to appoint a Teacher of Computer Science to join our team of dedicated and talented staff.

Our ambitious objectives require individuals with the potential to be an exceptional Teacher of Computer Science. Ideally a consistently good/outstanding practitioner, you will maximise the potential of our students by raising their aspirations as well as their attainment across this subject area.

The successful candidate will have the ability to plan effective lessons, using student data to inform planning and progression. You will also have high expectations of students, based on a sound knowledge of their prior and potential attainment.

Whilst ensuring effective whole class, group or individual learning opportunities are available to students which engage and challenge all ability levels, you will set high standards of expectations of students’ behaviour through good classroom discipline.

Wardle Academy was inspected by Ofsted in December 2017 and judged to be good in all aspects. We are determined to carry on improving until we are the very best we can be. An essential part of this is the training and development of staff; we encourage our teachers to seek courses and opportunities which will help them further their careers whilst also providing them with new skills or knowledge.

We can offer you:

  • The opportunity to work with highly committed and enthusiastic staff
  • The chance to help our rapidly improving school go from good to outstanding over the next three years
  • Excellent CPD focused on outstanding teaching and learning and a commitment to allow staff to fully engage the nationally recognised professional qualifications
  • Free flu vaccinations
  • Cycle scheme
  • Access to our newly refurbished swimming pool and fitness suite

Wardle Academy is part of the Wardle Trust and is located in a semi-rural setting serving many local communities. The school is easily accessible, within close proximity to the M62 motorway and Smithy Bridge train station.

We aim to provide an excellent all-round education within a safe environment of modern facilities and resources. Our dedicated team of high-quality teaching and associate staff raise the attainment and aspirations of our young people above and beyond national attainment.

Closing date: 10am on Monday 17 June 2019.

Interviews will take place shortly thereafter.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is therefore subject to pre-employment checks including enhanced Disclosure and Barring and background check.
