The Governors of St. Richard Gwyn Catholic High School are looking to appoint a highly-motivated, creative and innovative teacher of Computer Studies. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of the Science & Technology AOLE. 


This post is an important appointment in terms of fulfilling our mission statement and our vision for our inclusive school; ensuring that students have the opportunity to live life to the full and supporting the school to meet the four purposes of education. We would expect the successful candidate to have an unstoppable passion for supporting our students, working with the AOLE leader to deliver outstanding provision for Computing & Technology. 

Ideally, you will support the development of computer studies, design thinking and engineering which enable us to offer technical and creative ways to meet the needs of society. You will have a real capacity to inspire, motivate, enthuse and support students. You will influence how the role evolves in the future. You will join a dedicated and hard-working team with high standards and expectations at an exciting time in the development of education in Wales. This role is suitable for an experienced teacher or an ambitious newly qualified teacher who would like the opportunity to continue their professional development journey. 

St Richard Gwyn is an 11-18 mixed Catholic comprehensive school in the Diocese of Wrexham, serving the population of Flintshire, North Wales. With approximately 800 students on roll including the sixth form, the school has a strong ethos and is a vibrant Christian community. The school is located near the border and is easily accessible to north Wales and the north west of England.

About St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School

St Richard Gwyn Catholic, based in Flint, Clwyd, is a secondary state school for children between the ages of 11 and 18. It is an English medium voluntary-aided comprehensive. It serves the whole of Flintshire. At present, there are currently 811 students enrolled at the school. 122 of them are in sixth form. The school celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2014.

St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School’s motto is “learning together in Christ”. The aim is to learn the rules of Christianity and follow the guidance from Jesus Christ. St Richard Gwyn values politeness, respect for everyone and honesty. Teachers aim to create a caring and happy environment for the students to learn in. Students also are able to take part in out of school clubs and activities. This includes participating on the school’s student council.
