We seek to appoint a teacher who will actively contribute to the expanding computing and ICT provision at Shebbear College. This is a wonderful opportunity for a creative, dynamic and inspirational teacher.
This post is for a 0.5 timetable but there may be a possibility to go full time for the right candidate.
Suitable for NQTs.
The successful candidate should have the ability to do the following:-
• Be experienced in using Python
• Have knowledge of SQL
• Have knowledge of Adobe CC, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro
• Be able to teach Computer Science and Creative Media to KS5
• Be committed to creating an effective and inclusive learning environment
The department offers KS4 options that include GCSE Computer Science and L2 BTEC TECH award in Creative Media Production. Post-16 options include A Level Computer Science (starting 2019/20) and L3 BTEC Creative Digital Media Production. Students at KS3 have computing as a discrete subject once a week and KS2 students also have lessons in computing and digital literacy.
We are looking for a colleague who is prepared to help develop these popular subjects and inspire students inside and outside the classroom. To develop the extracurricular activities available for students and help run the popular workshops for local primary schools. Students have the opportunity to take part in a trip to New York, and there are several enhancement activities currently running.
The Computing department, indeed the whole school, provides a very friendly and supportive environment. This appointment would suit a recent graduate or someone wishing to gain further teaching experience in this ambitious, but non-selective school. NQT’s will receive full support to ensure successful completion of their induction.
The successful candidate will have every opportunity to gain the wide experience and responsibility, both academically and pastorally, to enable him or her to move on to higher posts at either Shebbear or elsewhere.
