Job overview

Are you an experienced and motivated Teacher of Construction or Design Technology specialising in Woodwork?

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Applied Learning Team delivering theory and practical lessons in construction and the construction industry as a whole, teaching 14-18 year-old full-time students one day per week.

We currently deliver the WJEC Level 1/2 Award in Constructing the Built Environment but are looking to develop and expand into the City and Guilds Diploma course with the right candidate. The courses consist of a number of practical and theory-based units, covering the industry as a whole and specialising in the following practical units: roofing, brickwork, and carpentry.

Ideally, you will have City and Guilds Assessor Levels 1 and 2 qualifications to support with delivering the diploma; Level 3 would be desirable. We are ideally looking for someone with experience in woodwork and/or in the brickwork area. Depending on your skills, part of the role will require you to deliver and support other practical areas.

While teaching, assessor and verifier qualifications would be desirable, they are not essential; however, the ability to encourage young people in their learning is essential.

We invest in our staff and you will be given a full induction programme and the support you require to progress, wherever you are in your career. All teaching staff are provided with an IT device, enjoy discounts and offers with Kent Rewards and we have an independent nursery on-site which offers discounts to Homewood Staff. Furthermore, you will enjoy a unique working environment in the beautiful town of Tenterden in the heart of the Weald of Kent.

Closing date: 25th August 2019, however applications will be reviewed as received, so you may hear from us before this time.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all members of the community. Tenterden Schools Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be asked to apply for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
