Job overview

Following a review of our Curriculum offer to KS4, we have an exciting and new opportunity for an inspirational teacher with the ability to teach across at least one of the following disciplines: Art, Product Design, Graphics, Food, Textiles and Resistant Materials, to join us from September. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic, committed team of staff. Our vision is to embed a culture of creative design and practical making with a range of materials and secure knowledge of the current and modern technological approaches to problem solving. At a time where tight budgets are seeing Creative Arts and Design cut back in school, it is thriving and developing at Gosford Hill.

We are fortunate to have spacious accommodation, with purpose built workshops. We are very well resourced with a laser cutter, 3D printer to support our students in accessing CAD/CAM, and a newly recommissioned kiln. The team is supported by an extremely competent technician.

Gosford Hill School is situated in Kidlington, on the north western edge of Oxford near to the new Oxford Parkway Station (a 50 minute journey from London), with ample staff parking and on the main bus route into Oxford. We work closely with Oxford University and Oxford Brookes University. We are also fortunate to be at the gateway to the rural Cotswolds. We prioritise staff well being and development and our ‘Golden Ticket’ scheme rewards strong staff attendance. Visits to the school, by arrangement, are welcome.

If you are interested in the post, please complete a Gosford Hill School application form and include a letter (of no more than 2 sides of A4) outlining your reasons for applying and your suitability for the post. Application forms and further details are available on the school’s website or from Nicola Cooke, Headteacher’s PA (tel. 01865 374971; email jobapplications@gosford-hill.oxon.sch.uk  The closing date for receipt of applications is noon on Tuesday 21st May 2019. Shortlisted candidates will be notified on Wednesday 22nd May, and interviews will take place on Friday 24th May 2019

Welcome to Gosford Hill School

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Gosford Hill School. Our school prides itself on the emphasis that we place on the needs, aspirations and achievement of individual students with learning very much at the heart of our work. We want our students to develop as resilient and autonomous learners, keen to overcome challenges, and take risks, so that they gain the transferable skills needed to enable them to lead fulfilling lives as confident and articulate individuals in our society.

Every student has strengths and talents, and it is our job to find and unlock that potential in every student. Whether it’s sport, art, music, Duke of Edinburgh or World Challenge, we celebrate success and recognise that learning goes beyond the classroom. Students are often more likely to remember the wealth and diverse range of opportunities available to them beyond the classroom as they are faced with new and exciting challenges.

We work closely with parents, and it is our belief that where the school, individual student and their parents work closely together, students will succeed.

It’s a privilege to lead such a wonderful school and I do hope that you find the information on our website helpful. There is so much more to learn about our school though, so I would therefore urge you to come and visit us in order to find out and experience for yourself why students, parents, staff and our wider community are so proud of our school.

Mr Nigel J. Sellars
Headteacher
