Hours: 34 weeks of the academic year; 30 hours per week including teaching, form time, duties, department meeting/directed time and prep.

Role: 

We are searching for a Teacher of Creative Arts to provide outstanding teaching, maintaining the high standards of the Collegiate. 

This job description is written at a specific time and is subject to change as the demands of the Collegiate and the role develops. The role requires flexibility and adaptability and the employees of the Collegiate need to be aware that they may be asked to perform tasks and be given responsibilities not detailed in this job description.


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Utilise specialist skills, training and experience to support pupils 
  • Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations 
  • Help to develop resources for the department 
  • Lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans/schemes of work as appropriate 
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives. 
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on pupil achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence. 
  • Undertake marking of pupils’ work and accurately record achievement / progress 
  • Communicate and consult with parents, outside bodies, etc, as directed by the Heads of School/Year 
  • Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs, ability to differentiate materials 
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person. 
  • Participate in training and other learning activities as required
  • Extra-curricular – we expect the postholder to work 5 days per week from a 7-day rota or part-time to be arranged. This may involve regular weekend work either on a rota or a fixed basis during term time – hours to be discussed with the successful applicant.


The Appointed Candidate will have: 

  • A good honours degree in Specialist subject, with PGCE or QTS
  • Proven record of successfully delivering the specialist subject across Key Stages 3 - 5 students.
  • Experience of using a range of different learning strategies to enable success. Including digital, online and in person.  
  • Proven record of successfully delivering Art at GCSE and A level (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of BTEC Level 3 qualifications (Desirable)
  • Experience of teaching a second Creative Arts subject (Desirable)
  • Experience of teaching students with English as a second language (Desirable)
  • Ability to teach across Key Stages 3 – 5
  • Ability to use 3D CAD, photoshop and video editing software (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Digital Audio Workstations, eg. Logic, Sibelius etc.
  • Ability to operate basic sound and lighting equipment for class and small productions. (Desirable)
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of Child Protection/Safeguarding (Desirable)
  • Motivation to work with children and young people
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
  • Ability to be a positive role model to students and staff, demonstrating effective strategy
