Do you want to help us develop the provision for SEMH and ASD across Maiden Erlegh Trust?

We can offer you:

  • a challenging but incredibly rewarding working environment.
  • an optimistic and motivating leadership team with a track record of improving schools.
  • a commitment to professional development, and a belief in driving improvement through our trauma informed practice.
  • the opportunity to work with a wider professional team at Cranbury College.

Hamilton School is a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Special School in Reading educating up to 96 students with Education, Health Care Plans (EHCP). Our mission is to recognise each and every one of our students as individuals, and to nurture their potential, developing the whole child through a therapeutic approach.

The school now proudly boasts a new building, giving our students the opportunity to play sport in either the purpose built sports hall, or the outdoor multi-use games area. They have access to brand new science, art, design & technology, food technology and drama rooms, in addition to classrooms equipped with the latest interactive whiteboards.

We are looking for an open-minded, curious, kind, and inspirational Teacher of Creative Arts to work at Hamilton School. Applications from candidates with primary training and experience with SEMH are particularly welcomed.

In January 2020 Hamilton School joined the Maiden Erlegh Trust family of schools, whose motto is “schools for the community, schools as a community”. The aim for every school in the Trust, whilst espousing their values and ethos, and having a core of common policies and procedures, will serve its own community’s needs in a bespoke way and also create a feeling of community within its own school. In that way all the potential and talents of every child and every member of staff will be nurtured.

Being part of the Maiden Erlegh Trust also offers a range of career opportunities in its vibrant and successful schools. The Trust has a proven track record of supporting ambitious staff to middle and senior leadership posts and can offer Specialist Leader of Education and school improvement opportunities to the right candidates.

Professional development is a strength, thanks to our Teaching School. We offer a flexible CPD programme which staff can tailor to their own needs which includes coaching and training for new entrants to the profession and to support career returners. We are very happy to discuss flexible working arrangements including part-time working and job-sharing.

We would love to meet you and show would around. Please email recruitment@maidenerleghtrust.org who will help organise this.

Closing date: 31 August 2022

The Trust reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date.

Maiden Erlegh Trust is an Ethical Leadership Pathfinder organisation and we are committed to safeguarding, equality and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We are also committed to having the highest expectations of pupil/students and staff, and supporting everyone to reach their full potential. All employees of the school and Trust are expected to share these commitments. All posts require satisfactory employment checks and references and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. All Leadership roles will require a Section 128 check
