We are seeking an outstanding, qualified Teacher of D&T – Food Technology and Resistant Materials to work within our high performing Academy.

Your opportunity

The Design and Technology team at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is comprised of 3 members of teaching staff and two technicians. The Department currently delivers a range of focus curriculum areas including Food Preparation and Nutrition, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Product Design from key stage 3 right the way through until A-level.

The Design and Technology department believes firmly in delivering a curriculum that prepares young people for the technological challenges of tomorrow. We strive to deliver traditional skills alongside the use of some of the most modern and up to date materials/ ingredients, equipment and processes available. The team continually looks to update its schemes of work in order to stay abreast of new and emerging technologies and ensure that learning is engaging and relevant to the 21st century.

What we are looking for:

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. You will be experienced at teaching D&T – Food Technology and Resistant Materials and work within the D&T team to deliver high quality learning experiences for students. The ability to teach across a range of specialisms would be beneficial.

We are looking for a strong communicator with proven strengths in engaging with, inspiring and motivating, not just the school community, but the wider community. You should hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace opened as Harris CTC in 1990 and converted to an Academy in September 2007. The Academy is a mixed school for 1,300 students aged 11-18 recruiting students from Croydon, Bromley, Lewisham, Southwark and Lambeth. The Academy has twice been judged to be outstanding by Ofsted, with the most recent inspection judging the school to be outstanding in every aspect. Student progress is in the top 3% nationally.
