Job overview

Whether you’re experienced or newly qualified, join a highly successful department with a supportive and collaborative ethos.

Here at Ninestiles we aim to create opportunities and support achievement for our students and teachers alike. Currently we are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, innovative and well-qualified Teacher of Design and Technology who is committed to maintaining a consistently high standard of learning and teaching to help ensure that this continues to be a truly outstanding school.

The successful candidate will collaborate in the planning and delivery of D&T lessons across all key stages and must have teaching experience in either resistant materials and/or food technology.

If you are an inspiring teacher who can bring D&T to life – and create a nurturing environment within which everyone can reach their full potential, we would like to here from you!

Join us and you will be part of a fantastic faculty with a strong team ethos.  We believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things as we further develop innovative teaching and learning strategies.  You should be able to teach across the ability range for KS3 and KS4 and a real interest in developing teaching and learning is also important.

The department’s success is reflected throughout this ambitious and consistently oversubscribed 11-16 academy which is the lead school in the Ninestiles Academy Trust comprising Ninestiles itself, Lyndon School, Cockshut Hill School and four primary schools with the Sixth Form College Solihull set to join the trust in August 2017.  Our commitment to excellence is recognised nationally and internationally and the school achieved outstanding in all categories in its last Ofsted inspection – for the fourth time, an achievement of which the school is justly proud.  Ninestiles is a Teaching School which offers further opportunities for career development in working with other schools.

We welcome applications from NQTs and experienced teachers alike.  If you would like an application form or further details, please visit our website www.ninestilesacademytrust.org.uk. Alternatively you can contact the school office on 0121 628 1311 or via email to: recruitment@ninestiles.org.uk

Closing date:  Midday on Friday 23rd June 2017.

We anticipate that interviews will take place the same week.

We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.  The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and we expect all applicants to share this commitment.  Appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Ninestiles School became an academy in 2011. Following this, Ninestiles Academy Trust was set up in 2012 and now has 7 schools and a 6th form college in its family. Ninestiles became a teaching school in the second cohort of teaching schools and is now widely known as Ninestiles Teaching School Alliance. Ninestiles has also had a centre for Initial Teacher Training since 2003, which is now South Birmingham SCITT. They have a passion for teaching and support and guide each trainee to their full potential, enabling them to securely enter the teaching profession in just one year.

A new Chief Executive, Catherine Anwar, joined the Trust in May 2017. Before joining the trust, Catherine was a Senior Her Majesty’s Inspector for Ofsted for four years and served eight years as a secondary school headteacher in Hampshire.

In our Trust, we celebrate the rich and diverse school communities that make up our schools. Sharing, listening to and respecting each other’s views and beliefs make our Trust stronger. We support each other, honouring our different backgrounds, to create a safe and equal environment for all.

We are fiercely ambitious for all our pupils and challenge them to do their best, every lesson, every day. We check their achievement and progress against the highest national standards. This ensures that we are always looking for ways to improve, and that we insist, relentlessly, on the highest standards of teaching and learning. Everyone in the Trust is continually challenged to improve on their previous best.

Curiosity is the engine of intellectual achievement. In our Trust, we encourage and provoke pupils’ curiosity so that they are inspired to seek out new knowledge, learn new skills and achieve excellence. Curiosity is closely linked to empathy, helping us all to develop better relationships. The life of a curious person is never boring!

The Trust Motto

Strength through Diversity

Ambition through Challenge

Excellence through Curiosity

The Trust changed its name to Summit Learning Trust in January 2019. The new name for the Trust symbolises our aspiration and ambition for all children and young people across our schools and college.
