Job overview

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Design & Technology (Maternity Cover) with a specialism in Food & Nutrition as this will make up the majority of the timetabled lessons.   This post would suit an experienced teacher or a newly qualified teacher.  The ideal candidate should be able to teach up to GSCE Food Preparation & Nutrition and KS3 Design and Technology.  At GCSE we deliver AQA Food Preparation & Nutrition and across Key Stage 3 the students are taught in D&T for half of the year and then Food Preparation and Nutrition for half of a year. The ability to teach Design & Technology to A-Level could be advantageous but is not essential.  Please state in your application what specialisms you can confidently teach in KS3 and KS4 across the spectrum of D&T and Food. 

The Design and Technology department is a small but well-equipped, successful department. You will be joining a skilled, energetic and committed team who thrive to raise the quality of provision to enable the best possible outcomes for of our students.

· Be comfortable promoting Catholic values and ethos, but does not necessarily have to be Catholic.

St. Simon Stock Catholic School Founded in 1967 as a school of the Archdiocese of Southwark, the School recently celebrated 50 years of Catholic education serving Maidstone and the west of Kent. CPD - involves a series of twilight sessions on areas identified by staff through appraisal; electives are created from courses attended by staff to feedback to colleagues; training for new areas e.g. LGBTQ,SEN, Pupil Premium, etc. A Senior Member of Staff has the encouragement of career progression as part of their role in addition to Performance Management and CPD in order to gain a holistic overview of training.

OFSTED - Section 5-Good; Section 48-Outstanding in all categories.
