Job overview

Teacher of Design and Technology (Food)

There is the possibility of a TLR2 for a candidate with proven experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and ambitious teacher to join our successful 11-16 school from August 2018 (2nd July for NQTs) or Easter if possible.

Our Design and Technology Faculty offers a broad curriculum at KS3 and 4. Students in KS4 have the choice of GCSE Food, Resistant Materials, Textiles and Product Design.  The faculty is also involved in teaching GCSE Hospitality.  Design and Technology is a popular subject and we have been pleased to have all options running every year.  Students love their lessons and develop very good practical skills and a love of working creatively.  The ability to teach a second Design and Technology subject would be an advantage.

Beaumont Leys School is a vibrant and forward thinking school whose students achieved 57% 5 A*-C including English and Maths equivalent in 2017 and a positive Progress 8 figure.  20% of students achieved 3AA* grades and eleven subjects beat National Averages from a significantly low starting point in Year 7.

Our last OFSTED Inspection (September 2016) judged that we continue to be a Good school. This is a real testament to the commitment of our staff and the hard work of our students against challenging social circumstances.

Full DBS check applies.

Full details and an application form are available from the school website www.beaumontleys.leicester.sch.uk/Staff/Our-Vacancies/

Closing Date for applications: 9am on Monday 15th January 2018. Interviews to be held week beginning 15th January 2018.

We have high aspirations and ambitions for our students and are constantly looking for ways of promoting their achievements within the community. Our motto is 'Together We Achieve Success'.

The school cannot be successful without students, staff and parents working together. As headteacher I see it as my responsibility to ensure that the school continues to develop and improve in a positive climate, which acknowledges and recognises everybody's hard work, staff and students, and in an environment where people are supported and enabled to develop their skills, abilities and talents.
