Teacher of Design & Technology

For January 2023 we are seeking to appoint a part-time Teacher of Design & Technology (0.5 FTE) who is able to teach to a very high standard of professional practice with a view to ensuring that pupils acquire detailed understanding in the subject and they secure good results in their examination. 

The successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for their subject and be committed to developing active learning strategies to challenge and inspire our students. from year 7 through to Sixth Form including GCSE, AS and A Level and International Baccalaureate (IB). 

Responsibilities include:  

• Ensuring effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained, and best use is made of teaching time   
• Using teaching methods which keep pupils engaged, including stimulating pupils’ intellectual curiosity, effective questioning and response, clear presentation, and good use of resources.   
• Setting high expectations for pupils' behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships.   
• Being aware of and making provision for pupils who are AEN/SEN, very able, LAC or who have other individual needs

The post would suit a newly qualified teacher or one in their first few years of teaching. A working knowledge of ICT is essential as is a willingness to contribute to other school activities in a thriving boarding environment.
