Monkton is seeking to appoint a full time teacher of Design from September 2019 or January 2020 who will also take on the role of Subject Coordinator.
The Teacher of Design will share our vision for fostering a love of lifelong learning, both for students and teachers. He or she will be passionate about delivering an excellent holistic education and have a commitment to individuals, seeing this as the basis for students to flourish. He or she will see education as lighting fires rather than filling pails, and appreciate the contribution that co-curricular activities make to the learning process. A willingness to work collaboratively, and get fully and energetically involved in the co-curricular and pastoral life of the School is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to build on the developments made over recent years in the Design department. The introduction of the 3D Design course at A level has enriched the creative discourse with the Art department, fulfilling some of the original high ambitions for the new faculty building. Applications from candidates interested in exploring the way that the Design curriculum can interact imaginatively with Art, Textiles and Photography are especially welcome.
