Job overview

Contract: Part Time 0.6 FTE Contract Term: Temporary - Maternity Cover

Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who is seeking a new challenging role in a school where ‘Aspiration and Support for all’ is always at the forefront of their students’ lerning? A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Boroughbridge High School for a Design and Technology teacher to join their supportive and friendly team.

We require an enthusiastic and committed teacher of Design and Technology to cover a period of maternity leave starting 8 January 2018 until the 29 March 2018, in the first instance. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated about teaching and learning and committed to raising the standards of our successful Design and Technology department. The post will be diverse and will give you the opportunity to teach across different key stages ranging from KS3 to KS4; experience teaching across both of these key stages is therefore desirable.

This is an exciting time to join the school as, having gained a ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement in January, we are now determined to move to Outstanding. Ofsted commented that ‘Pupils feel well cared for and supported’ and ‘Pupils have very positive attitudes to all aspects of their learning’.

The successful applicant will be a huge part of the development of our school and will help us strive to make Bouroughbridge High School an ‘Outstanding’ place for children to learn. In return for your hard work and dedication to our school we can offer you a range of benefits. As an employee of Boroughbridge High School you will be entitled to our range of rewards on the NYCC ‘Everybody Benefits’ scheme. These include access to free childcare vouchers as well as numerous retail discounts. As a school we will also strive to support you though your professional development.

Boroughbridge High School is an 11-18 Maintained LA School with 568 students on roll, with 57 in the Sixth Form. It serves a largely rural catchment area, including the attractive market town of Boroughbridge, and drawing some students from the city of Ripon. The school is in a great location and is in easy reach of York, Harrogate, Ripon and Leeds.

Application forms and further details are available from the school website www.boroughbridgehigh.com or by contacting Wendy Firth at the school on 01423 323540.

Completed application forms should be returned via email to vacancies@boroughbridgehigh.com or via post to the school address and should be marked for the attention of W Firth.

If you would like to discuss the post, please contact the Head of Design and Technology, Jayne Flowers, on jflowers@boroughbridgehigh.com

Closing Date for Applications: Midday, Monday 20 November 2017

Interviews: W/c 20 November 2017

We are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse community and aim to have a workforce reflecting this diversity. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment'.

At Boroughbridge High School, our belief in ‘Aspiration for all’ means that our students are at the heart of our decision making. We know that students are successful when they are safe and happy as is demonstrated in our exam results and wide range of destinations.

With almost 470 students, we serve the community of Boroughbridge and the surrounding area, which gives our school a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. We feel like a family and, as such, we know our students well making Boroughbridge High School a good place to work and learn. We strive to ensure that all students leave our school, not only with the qualifications they need to access the next stage of their education or career of choice, but with the skills and confidence to make an active contribution to the communities to which they belong.

We understand that this can only be achieved with excellent teaching and effective support through highly committed staff. Therefore, if you were to be successful, you would benefit from working as part of a supportive staff team with opportunities for personalised CPD both within school and beyond.
