Heanor Gate Science College, situated on the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire border, is looking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic professional who combines excellent organisational and teaching skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students. The successful applicant will join a very committed, forward thinking and successful team. We are a ‘good’ school (Ofsted March 2017) with a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.

We have a vacancy for a teacher of Design Technology (with a food specialism) suitable for an experienced teacher or NQT. The successful applicant will be a person with high expectations for all students and have the ability and enthusiasm to ensure that all students achieve their potential and they will have the opportunity to:

  • teach all age groups from 11 – 18 years;
  • access high quality CPD;
  • be part of a team committed to outstanding teaching and learning.

About Heanor Gate Spencer Academy

Heanor is a small town, situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park and the Derwent Valley World Heritage site within easy reach of Derby, Nottingham and the M1. The school is located in the south-west of the town and its catchment area includes most of Heanor and nearby Loscoe, along with the rural parishes of Smalley, Shipley, Horsley Woodhouse and Morley. The school is popular, with a number of our students coming from outside the catchment area.
