Job overview

We are looking to appoint an experienced teacher of Design Technology who enjoys designing and making high quality products with well-motivated students.  You will play a key role in the teaching and development of the new GCSE Design Technology course as well as Sixth Form teaching.  The ability to teach another subject would be useful but not essential.  Informal visits to see the Department in action are welcome and encouraged, please contact the school to arrange this.

At St Benedict’s we value our teachers for their creativity, individuality, imagination and flair. We are a small supportive team who look out for each other and work hard. The students at St Benedict's are motivated, thirsty for knowledge and job satisfaction is high. The school has a strong partnership between parents, teachers and students. If you enjoy teaching all abilities of students who want to learn, then this is the right school for you.

At KS4 results have been consistently very good and Resistant Materials is a very popular option which complements the Textiles and Food and Nutrition courses offered.  Food and Resistant Materials KS4 options follow AQA specifications with Textiles following OCR specifications. Currently there are 55 students in year 11 and 30 students in year 10 taking Resistant Materials and indications are that there will be another two full groups opting for the subject for next year. Results are very good with 85% A* - C in 2017 and more revealing are the very high scores for value added confirming that the full range of  ability of students take this subject and achieve high standards.

If you wish to continue to make a difference to the lives of young people and work within a vibrant, exciting and forward-thinking school then we would like to hear from you.

Closing Date: 23 October 2018

Ofsted report

“Students, staff and parents are, quite rightly, proud to be associated with this school. All groups of students make excellent progress, regardless of their background or ability level. Students’ attainment has been significantly above average over time, including in English and mathematics. Teaching is outstanding. Lesson activities are planned extremely well to ensure they are demanding and exciting.”
