About the Department

The Technology Department at Outwood Academy Haydock is a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation. You'll join a dedicated team of expert teachers, passionate about delivering outstanding lessons within our state-of-the-art facilities in the school's Science and Technology block. Our enthusiastic educators are further supported by a highly skilled and experienced Technology Technician.

The department boasts an exceptionally well-resourced and culturally rich curriculum, featuring cutting-edge classroom technologies that empower teachers to deliver dynamic and inspiring learning experiences. We nurture a close-knit and supportive team environment – a true family dedicated to maximising the potential of every student and equipping them with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the future.

The department has made significant strides in recent years, achieving our highest-ever results in Hospitality & Catering and Engineering, all of which were in line with or above national averages. We have also expanded our curriculum offer to reintroduce Textiles and are currently in the process of reintroducing Product Design into the curriculum.

We are a highly successful department with a tremendous track record in extra-curricular activities. In recent years, we have consistently finished in the top ten of the prestigious V&A Innovate challenge, culminating in an outright victory in 2023 and a category win in 2022.

We are now seeking to appoint another vibrant and dynamic teacher, who is a workshop specialist, to join our fantastic team. We are totally committed to providing the very best education for every child, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive learning environment. We aim to instil a love of learning and a love of the Technologies in every child in our care.

As we continue to improve and progress, help to take us to the next level.
