Wellington College International Shanghai is the partner school of Wellington College in England, and was opened in August 2014. This is Wellington’s second partnership school in China, which now has 950 pupils and continues to grow by over 150 pupils per year. The College is divided into three schools with a Pre-Prep (Nursery to Year 2), Prep School (Year 3 to Year 8) and the Senior School (Years 9 to 13). There is provision for boarding from Year 5.
The College curriculum combines our focus on the Wellington Values with the best of the English and international curriculums. The youngest children in the nursery and reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. From Year 1 the English National Curriculum provides the core of the curriculum in maths and literacy, with other lessons following the International Primary Curriculum. From Year 6 up, all children follow a school-devised curriculum, based on the English National Curriculum and taught by subject specialists to prepare them for the study of a range of IGCSE subjects at Years 10 and 11. Pupils in Year 12 and 13 follow the prestigious IB Diploma Programme.
Wellington College International Shanghai aims to be the best international school in China and to be great place for talented professionals to develop their careers. Our academic results to date have been outstanding, our first cohort of IB scholars averaged of 40.8 (out of 45) and the average for all students who achieved the IB was 35.7, which is well above the international average. For the second year in succession, 67% of students achieved 5 or more A* or A grades and all students gained 5 or more A*-C grades.
