Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving, co-educational independent day school on the outskirts of Bristol.  We are looking for a dynamic and highly capable Teacher of Drama, to join a popular and successful department and contribute to the wider life of this busy holistic school community.  The department has a creative, skilled and highly experienced team with a very strong record of academic success.

As part of a thriving Expressive Arts Faculty, the Drama Department offers an array of extra-curricular opportunities to extend classroom provision. They are dedicated to staging at least two productions a year, one of which is very inclusive and encourages students across all Key Stages to be involved as either a performer or designer. In addition, co-curricular trips, alongside professionally led theatre workshops are regularly organised to ensure the students at Colston’s are developing a holistic appreciation of the arts.

This part time post (0.4 FTE to 0.5 FTE) is offered as a fixed term contract that is expected to run from the start of the Autumn Term, 25th August 2021, for one year.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and a great communicator with an excellent knowledge of KS3, GCSE and A Level Drama.

This position would suit a more experienced teacher seeking an opportunity for professional development. You will receive a competitive salary and other benefits include free lunches during term time, free on-site parking and use of the school’s gym facilities. The school also offers a discount on school fees for staff at the school.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school and we value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom.  In our recent ISI report the school was judged excellent in all areas; raw examination results are consistently good, value-add scores are high and we have waiting lists in most year groups.

Colston’s Upper School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. We are easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 800 students aged from 3 to 18.

Applicants are requested to make clear within the supporting statement of their application any additional subjects, co-curricular interests and hobbies or experiences that would enhance the experience they bring to the school.

Closing date for applications:  Sunday 16th May 2021

Interviews are expected to take place Friday 21st May 2021.

Colston’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
