Job overview

We are looking to recruit an exceptional Teacher of Drama.

This role is for a Drama specialist who is looking for the opportunity to inspire and develop students’ passion for performing arts. As the sole Drama teacher at our Lower Academy (and therefore all of KS3) you need to be confident in your subject knowledge, be able to create and implement engaging SOW’s and bring new and exciting ideas to our KS3 curriculum.

Ideally we are hoping to secure an Easter start however this can be flexible for the right candidate.

We are two aspirational and ambitious Academies based in Essex, just 35 minutes from London. The Lower Academy specialises in the teaching of our students aged 11-14 whilst the Upper Academy specialises in our 14-19 year old student populations. The Academies are approximately 1 mile apart.

In December 2015, both of our Academies were graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted and our goal over the next 24 months is to achieve ‘Outstanding’. We are confident we can achieve this and are looking for colleagues who share the drive and passion necessary to ensure every child achieve their potential. If this is you then you are just the person we are looking for to join our already successful team.

We are dedicated to supporting staff to build a fulfilling teaching career. As a new member of staff you will be offered a full induction and excellent support and development so that you can be outstanding in your chosen subject.

If you can enthuse, engage, motivate and challenge students to make exceptional progress then please download and complete an application form and return it to Bethan Tipper in the HR Department via recruitment@basildonacademies.org.uk

Closing date: Applications welcomed as soon as possible.

Tours of the Academies will be available for shortlisted candidates.

The Basildon Academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to DBS and health checks.

The Basildon Academies is focused upon developing the whole child; our curriculum has been developed to enable our students to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills so that they will become lifelong learners. This includes opportunities for linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technical, human, social, physical and artistic learning so that students make progress in a wide range of subjects.

We set high expectations of all our students and this, in turn, ensures we create a positive climate for learning in which every student can reach their full potential. Our Academy is a calm, orderly and purposeful environment where students enjoy their learning, make good progress and feel safe.

Our Sixth Form is a major part of the academy with the structure modelling itself on developing independent learning skills like those seen in universities which allows students to continue their studies in their specialist subject areas. Students are very much encouraged to become mature adults being engaged in many aspects of the life of the academy which further develops those much needed skills to go on into university or the world of work.

'Leaders are committed to developing pupils’ confidence and belief in themselves. The clear message to pupils is that anything is possible if you persevere.' Ofsted 2019
