Job overview

Woodbridge High School is a heavily over-subscribed mixed 11-19 comprehensive school. It is highly regarded for its student achievement, where we teach a full range of courses.

The Drama Department has well equipped specialist teaching areas and is an expanding and successful department. The subject is taught very successfully at both GCSE and A level, with BTEC Performing Arts taught at KS4.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection (January 2012) was ‘Good’ in all categories, and it was noted that: “the relentless pursuit of high expectations at senior level is key to the school’s sustained improvements…..this is reflected in the students’ strong performance in most subject areas and in their good behaviour.”

The school is committed to promoting and safe-guarding the welfare of children. All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Woodbridge High School is a thriving, ethnically diverse, successful comprehensive secondary school that serves its local community in the heart of Woodford. The school is a ten form entry school with 300 students in each year group.

The sixth form of 400 students continues to prosper with the majority of our students staying on after year 11. The teaching staff are all specialists in their separate areas and permanently contracted to the school. Year on year the school attracts a high number of first-choice applications for year 7 entry, with a record number of first choice places allocated this year. The school has a diverse curriculum that meets the needs of all the students and provides them with a pathway towards their chosen careers. The school is a happy, flourishing and mutually respectful place of learning.

The latest Ofsted report describes it as a place where students 'receive an excellent education' and where 'behaviour in and around the school is exceptional' . Government figures reveal that students at Woodbridge achieve beyond their expected performance levels.

Woodbridge is a school with a commitment to high standards. Our ethos is one of kindness, inclusion, respect and aiming for excellence. Our commitment to the success of every student is reinforced by the school's motto: ‘Pride in Achievement’.

Students at Woodbridge benefit from first-class facilities including an artificial grass pitch, outdoor basketball nets and table-tennis tables, a fitness studio, a refurbished sports hall, a new building with a performance theatre, specialist art, drama and music rooms, and a remodelled library.
