Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a part-time or full-time Teacher of Dutch to join a dynamic Dutch department, and teach students from all over the world about Dutch language and culture as from 1 October 2022, or sooner if possible.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities: 

  • Teach Dutch both as a first language and a second language, on various levels 
  • Teach Dutch in the IB MYP and DP curriculum 
  • Collaborate with members of the Dutch department to develop and implement teaching materials

This is a forward thinking school and therefore they invest in potential future leaders as well as excellent teachers. They expect teachers to be skilled in using digital tools for teaching (example: MacBook Air, Touch Screen boards and iPads). The chosen candidate will be a reflective practitioner and embrace opportunities for Continuous Professional Learning.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential: 

  • Teacher of Dutch qualification or in the process of obtaining this qualification 
  • Experience teaching Dutch as a first language 
  • Experience teaching Dutch as a second language 
  • Applicants who have the right to work in The Netherlands

Preferred: 

  • Masters degree (eerstegraads bevoegdheid) 
  • NT2 experience and qualifications 
  • Experience working in an international environment 
  • Experience teaching the IB curriculum

The school offer

As with all teacher appointments in The Netherlands, this is a temporary appointment for one year, with a view to a permanent contract if all the conditions are met. The position is based on the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) for Secondary Education.

Other benefits include the 8% holiday allowance, a year-end bonus of 8.33%, a contribution towards travel expenses and the ABP pension scheme.
