We are looking for an experienced Teacher of Economics and Business to join our academic teaching team at the Joseph Wright Centre.  The campus is in the centre of Derby with great access to local amenities such as shops and restaurants, and brilliant transport links.  There is also a Starbucks on campus!

This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis and we will discuss this with successful applicants at interview.

You will be joining a growing and thriving department, and an incredibly vibrant and high performing team.  You will be working with post-16 learners and will be a dedicated and motivated professional ready to provide an innovative, dynamic and responsive delivery to meet the needs of our A Level students.  You will also have excellent administration and interpersonal skills and excel working as part of a team.

You will be working closely with management, colleagues and students to ensure success for both the students and college. This includes being responsible for planning schemes of work, providing effective feedback, keeping student portfolios up to date and tracking progress.  In addition, you will be qualified at degree level in Economics and hold a recognised Level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or be working towards achieving this.

Interview format: you will conduct a 15-minute micro teach, followed by a panel interview.  This will be conducted in person at the Joseph Wright Centre.  You will also be given a tour of the campus and opportunity to meet the team.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
