Teacher of Economics and Business Studies

Millfield School is seeking a full-time teacher of Economics and Business Studies to start in September 2021. The successful applicant will be able to teach both subjects to students across a broad ability range; they will also be willing to teach across the entirety of Millfield’s academic offer in these two Departments: Economics GCSE and A Level; Business Studies GCSE and A Level, and BTEC Level 2 and Level 3. Applicants should be interested in seeking to share good practice, be committed to building a culture of enterprise and entrepreneurship, and have the willingness to contribute to the academic extension programme for potential Oxbridge students (such as running tutorials for students applying for Economics-related courses).
We welcome applications from experienced teachers or NQTs, from a wide range of backgrounds, and will also consider applications from those without professional qualifications in teaching, if they are well qualified for the role and have relevant experience. For the right candidate there is also the possibility of 2i/c Economics.
Founded in 1935, Millfield’s vision is to be the world leader for the development of children. There are nearly 1,300 students at the senior school (year 9 to U6), with a 3:1 ratio of boarding to day. Although essentially a rural British school, 20 per cent of Millfield students are international and come from more than 70 countries.
Set in over 100 acres of grounds, Millfield’s size brings great opportunity and the facilities are unmatched in the UK: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, golf courses, indoor centres for tennis, golf and cricket and an equestrian centre; concert hall, recording studio, theatre, art gallery, hi-tech Science block and outstanding teaching facilities; and high quality boarding accommodation.
