Earlscliffe is an independent 'boutique' day and boarding school in Folkestone, Kent, on the British heritage coast, only 50 minutes from Central London by train. We are seeking an experienced, part-time Teacher of Economics to begin in September 2019. Earlscliffe enjoys small class sizes, averaging single figures of highly motivated international students. This year we have a total of 109 students from 29 different nationalities. The teaching allocation is a 0.5 teaching timetable.

The teacher is responsible, along with all other academic staff of the School, to the Director of Studies, and then to the Directors of the college.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• To prepare and teach appropriate and challenging lessons to both Year 12 and Year 13 Economics A-Level classes. To ensure high-quality teaching and learning takes place through the delivery of effective lessons and the participation in activities in support of the aims of the college. 

• To assess students’ work and report on progress as required, notably through the school’s unique TRaC™ testing and monitoring system. 

• Keep up to date with current developments in the educational field to improve curriculum planning. Working with other subject staff to ensure curriculum integration and to achieve subject and whole college aims and to assist with whole college projects. 

• Working with the Director of Studies to review systematically, change and modify the curriculum as necessary by planning suitable courses for students of all abilities. 

• To ensure that the environment of the classroom is always of a high quality and contribute to the environment of the subject area. 

• To promote student progress and well-being with due regard for discipline and health and safety. You are expected to be familiar with all school policies, particularly Safeguarding procedures and to promote the welfare of children always. 

Salary: £35.50 per hour
