Job overview

As a teacher of engineering and technology, how often you get the opportunity to work in an educational establishment where your subject is at the core of everything they do?  How often is your subject given the most curriculum time? How often is the very essence of the organisation to develop excellence in your subject in every one of its students?

You will see from our website that our engineering workshops are second to none.  Our kit is industry standard and our engineering team are able to train our students in the skills that our industrial partners want to see in their future employees.

Our students work on engineering projects that involve solving problems  for our partners and sponsors.  Out of their solutions fall their qualifications.

In Key Stage 4 our students complete 2 or three Cambridge Nationals in engineering and design.  In Key stage 5 students study for a BTEC in engineering at level 2 or level 3 and we also offer product design A level.  All students have the opportunity to use the workshops for extension activities.

As a STEM specialist school our engineering department works closely with science, technology and maths to develop exciting projects which we deliver to our own students and students from other schools, as young as year 5.

We are looking for a skilled practitioner who is able to teach engineering and product design including level 3 maths in engineering.  The ability to teach CAD/autocad and Solidworks, programming of PICs as well as advanced lathe work and milling would be an advantage.

You will need a track record of successful outcomes at Key Stage 4 and 5 and be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver exciting lessons that inspire our young people.

In return we offer a small and supportive team with a commitment to CPD.  As a growing school, opportunities for leadership roles will present themselves as we grow.  Whilst currently we have students in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, we plan to develop a Key Stage 3 over the next 2 years.

Closing date: 8 May 2017

Interviews: 11 May 2017
