Heritage Mathematics and Computing Specialist School is one of the fastest improving schools in Derbyshire.  Over a period of three years GCSE Results at 5A*-C have improved from 34% to 66% and from 33% 5A*-C including English and Mathematics to 46% 5A*-C including English and Mathematics.

In January 2011 the school is set to move onto the next stage of its improvement journey, when staff and students move into a brand new purpose build school fit for the 21st Century.

These are exciting times for students, staff and everyone within the Heritage School community in a year that will see the best ever GCSE results, a change of school uniform, movement into a new school and  confidence in the school at its highest point in recent years.

In addition to what the school provides on its own site, it also caters for the wider needs of its learners through its links with other institutions. It is an active member of the Chesterfield and Bolsover Learning Communities engaging in a range of offsite academic and vocational courses for its Key Stage 4 learners.

Over the past two years the school has successfully piloted a programme of accelerated learning for a number of its students underpinned by early entry policies in a number of subjects.  It currently has students involved in accelerated learning in Science, Maths, English, PE and Music.  Additionally, in the current Year 11, 50% of the cohort have already achieved higher grade GCSE passes in Maths.

Heritage is placing an increasing emphasis on the professional development of its teachers. It has provided a range of training, development and promotion opportunities for high quality and committed staff over the past three years.  It has a team of teacher coaches that are at the vanguard of developing and sharing good practice.  There has never been a better time to join the school.
