Job overview

Lea Valley Academy is an 11-19 academy with 880 students on roll. Lea Valley Academy is a member of the Edmonton Academy Trust. We are looking to appoint a teacher of English & Drama with excellent subject knowledge who is passionate about their role. We are looking for an individual who will be able raise standards and performance across the three key stages and someone who will ensure a positive learning environment throughout the departments. This is a unique opportunity for a talented teacher with the ambition, drive, and desire to deliver the school’s vision and to become a valued member of a strong school community. For the right candidate, there is also the possibility of sixth form experience and/or a TLR.

Both the English and Drama teams are made up of dedicated teachers who enjoy working collaboratively to ensure we offer a high standard of education for our young people. Teachers are supportive and open to learning from one another, sharing workload fairly and contributing to improvements across the curriculum. Work-life balance is a key priority and we are continuing to experiment with approaches that reduce workload, whilst maintaining meaningful and effective teacher-student dialogue. We are passionate about making our subjects enjoyable to study and to teach; this year, staff and students have enjoyed dynamic oracy and reading lessons, Westend trips and a “Rap School” Enrichment Day.

At a whole school level, Lea Valley Academy is looking for an inspirational teacher who motivates pupils and staff alike to always strive to do their best and continue the development work needed from KS3 all the way through to KS5. We aim to recruit a committed and ambitious professional who is keen to develop their talents and leadership experience to lead their subject.

We are a modern forward-thinking school with excellent on-site facilities. Professional development is at the heart of all that we do as a school and as such there will be ample opportunities for your development and growth as a teacher of both English and Drama.

Lea Valley Academy is a mixed, multicultural, school with a genuinely comprehensive intake. We are a good school with outstanding aspects and we enjoy teaching well-motivated students.

The school is at an exciting stage in its development. We have recently been inspected and rated “Good” in all categories by Ofsted. We welcome applications from people who are striving to improve as professionals and who want to become part of our journey towards becoming an “Outstanding” school.

Apply online direct through TES or download an application pack from the school website www.leavalleyacademy.org.uk or email us at pa@edact.org.uk

Applications from ECTS are warmly invited and all applications will be processed as received.

CVs will not be accepted as formal application and we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we appoint early. If you do not hear back from us once the vacancy has closed it will mean you have been unsuccessful on this occasion
