We seek to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher to join a school that is undergoing rapid change.   The candidate would ideally be primary trained with the ability to teach English and Humanities to a secondary level.

Marshfields School is a successful Y5 – Y14 Special School for students with complex learning difficulties. Small classes mean that our teachers get to know the needs of all individuals in their care and plan the curriculum accordingly. Our students are well motivated and eager to learn with excellent levels of attendance. A new build has recently been handed over, and a substantial refurb has just been completed. These developments ensure we are able to continue to grow our offer to meet the needs of local students.

We are a designated as a hub school for Peterborough, providing short-term primary school placements, professional development and expertise in Moderate Learning Difficulties provision across the City of Peterborough. We welcomed our first Year 5 and Year 6 primary-aged students in January 2020. The primary class is now well established and growing rapidly. We intend to consult on extending the offer to Year 3 for September 2022.

This is therefore a growth position, and the successful candidate will allow us to continue to grow our provision. 

This position would suit a primary trained teacher with extensive knowledge of SEND, or a specialist SEND teacher. Knowledge of how to meet the needs of students with complex learning difficulties.   

The successful candidate will have a passion for education and will have the skills and abilities to engage and enthuse different types of learners. You will work productively as part of a team and be well supported in making the career transition to Special Education if you have previously been in mainstream.

The successful candidate will be:

• Committed to the inclusion of students with special educational needs;

• A highly motivated and effective classroom practitioner;

• Creative and innovative, with excellent communication and inter-personal skills;

• A teacher who is able to motivate, lead, support and challenge students to be successful.
