Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic teacher to be part of a newly developing college in Shanghai which opens its doors to its first students in September 2017. The college is being developed in association with its prestigious sister school, Concord College (UK) a renowned international college whose academic excellence places it at the very top of the UK examination league tables. Concord College (UK) is lending its considerable experience and expertise in support of this new venture.     

The aim of Concord College Shanghai is to create a place of learning where students can flourish in a supportive atmosphere of harmony, trust and decency, whilst committed to striving for academic excellence at every level.  

Initially the college will recruit students in Year 6 (age 11) and Year 10 (age 15) and in subsequent years will grow to include all years from 6 to 12 (age 11 to 18). The courses offered will incorporate the traditional Chinese curriculum in a bilingual environment, whilst also offering students IGCSE and A levels, with the intention of preparing students for entry into the top universities throughout the world. This is an exciting opportunity to be able to share best UK practice in an internationalised setting.  

The successful applicant will be appointed at the very beginning of this development and will have the chance to be part of a college whose goal is to become a leading educator within the vibrant city of Shanghai.  

Requirements:

  1. Commitment to the wellbeing and pastoral care of all students within their care.
  2. Ability and proven commitment to being an excellent classroom teacher.
  3. Excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills. Experience of SIMS and/or timetabling would be an advantage.
  4. Willingness and ability to contribute to the schools extra-curricular enrichment programme.

How to apply 

Closing date for applications is 3 February 2017 at midday.
Interviews can be either on 6 and 7 March 2017 at Concord College Shropshire, UK or for overseas applicants, via Skype with a subsequent in-person interview in April 2017.

Successful applicants will take up their position in mid-August and will be invited to participate in a thorough programme of induction.
