With waiting lists in each year group and GCSE results placing us amongst the top schools in the country, we have quickly become a hugely popular school locally. Demand for places is high as parents want the combination of a BFS education and our distinctive small school feel for their children.

THE DEPARTMENT 

Our first two sets of GCSE results saw over 80% of students achieve A*-C in English, placing the department in the top 10% of all departments nationally. You will be expertly led by our Head of English and an established team of subject specialists. The department is housed in 4 dedicated classrooms each equipped with interactive whiteboards and projectors. Our school library is well stocked with classic and modern literature and English teachers have a maximum of 5 teaching groups each.   

SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT 

As a new member of staff you’ll be supported each step of the way. NQTs benefit from a bespoke programme of CPD, a reduced teaching load and a generous starting salary. For more experienced colleagues career development is made a priority - we offer financial assistance for relevant post graduate study and support for teachers wishing to apply to become Specialist Leaders of Education. You will be joining us at an exciting time – in addition to our newly completed £2m extension, a local primary school joins our multi academy trust in April, and we expect confirmation that we will be opening our second brand new secondary school in nearby St Neots very soon. The growth of our MAT is sure to create exciting opportunities for our staff in the future.

BFS opened in September 2012 and is now heavily oversubscribed, reflecting our established popularity and reputation with local parents. We have now celebrated three sets of solid GCSE results that put us top in Bedford and amongst the best in the region. In the coming years we aim to become one of the top performing schools in the country and as we continue to develop, we are looking to recruit excellent teachers who share our values and beliefs.
