Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of English who will share our determination to transform the life chances of our students. We are looking for a highly effective colleague who works hard and has high standards.  You will be joining IES Breckland at an exciting time in the English department.  We are a small, thriving team of subject specialists looking for a like-minded colleague to join us. We are looking for a colleague who is confident enough to try new methods and reflect on how they can improve, who want to share their experiences with and learn from their colleagues at a time of positive change in the department, and who will put our students and their best interests at the heart of their teaching.

At Key Stage 4 we enter students for the AQA GCSE and although we have previously taught this over three years, we are in the process of returning to a two-year KS4.  At Key Stage 3, which is expanding from two to three years, we have begun to plan and teach our own curriculum, based heavily on the canon of English literature to develop skills of analysis and the joy of creative writing.  There are opportunities to develop and plan collaboratively in our supportive team as we change our curriculum.

Although our need is for an English teacher, there may be opportunities to teach Drama or Film Studies as well.  If you want to work in a supportive, progressive department, where you have the opportunity to teach your subject, where behaviour management is not an issue, we would like to hear from you.

IES Breckland is a good and improving school well regarded by the local community with whom it works closely.  Staff enjoy working here and our students are well behaved and keen to learn.

Sabres Educational Trust is committed to developing the school and seeks an individual who will assist with the journey. The International English Schools are part of a highly successful international school organisation with multiple schools in Sweden and Spain and are on a journey to become a world leading education organisation.

For an informal chat please contact David Gower, Assistant Principal on 01842 819501 or by email to dgower@breckland.iesschools.co.uk

Further details and an application form can be found on our website at https://www.breckland.iesschools.co.uk/about-us/vacancies/

Applications should be sent recruitment@breckland.iesschools.co.uk

We do not accept CVs.

IES Breckland is committed equal opportunities, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.

Closing Date: 9am on Monday 3 February 2020

Interviews will take place on Friday 7 February 2020
