Job overview

The Bulwell Academy is an 11-18 academy serving families in and around the Bulwell area of Nottingham. We have recently become part of the family of schools that make up the Creative Education Trust and are at the start of a journey to raise standards and ensure we do all that is needed to help the young people we serve succeed; they deserve a great education, and we’re committed to delivering it.

Applications are encouraged from ambitious English teachers who share our vision and belief that all pupils have the right to have access to the highest quality education. We require a highly committed educationalist who believes passionately in making a difference to the life of every student; in return, you will be rewarded with a highly competitive career package. Applications from those in the early stages of their careers and thinking about progressing into a leadership position would be most welcome. The opportunity to undertake externally recognised accredited training such as NPQML, NPQSL, Teaching Leaders, and Future Leaders is actively promoted and encouraged.

The successful candidate will:

  • have experience of teaching English at KS3 and KS4;
  • plan and deliver high-quality lessons clearly focused on learning, which challenge and engage all of our students and ensure progress for all;
  • be required to work independently and collaboratively as part of the team;
  • contribute to raising standards and student attainment across the whole school.

To apply for this role, please complete a Bulwell Academy Application Form, which can be downloaded from our website at www.bulwellacademy.co.uk (click on quick links where you will be able to select Job Vacancies). Your supporting letter of application should address the person specification and outline the skills and experiences that you could bring to make a difference to The Bulwell Academy; this should be no more than two sides of A4 paper. Completed applications should be sent to our HR Department, The Bulwell Academy, Squires Avenue, Nottingham, NG6 8HG. Applications by email are welcomed and should be sent to recruitment@bulwellacademy.org.uk. Please note that CVs are not accepted unless accompanied by an application form.

Visits to the Academy are warmly encouraged; please contact Tracey Sadler, PA to the Principal, at head.teacher@bulwellacademy.org.uk

Closing date: Wednesday 21 November 2018 at 12 noon.

The Bulwell Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The above post is subject to a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure Certificate with Barred List check (child) via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Aspire. Work Hard. Be Kind.

The Bulwell Academy is proud of its heritage yet is firmly placed in the 21st century.  We aim to provide an education tailored around each of our students to ensure they are ready to progress towards their future as successful 21st century citizens.

Our sponsors, the Creative Education Trust (CET), provide a clear framework for developing creativity within our student group and deeper learning through ‘knowledge connected’ by introducing the values of creativity and design to enrich learning at every stage.  The support of CET partnered with our constant pursuit of excellence creates a wonderful learning environment.

The building has been designed to provide a nurturing environment to stimulate young minds, through light and open classrooms, quieter independent learning areas and state-of-art learning and sporting facilities.

The Academy is committed to nurturing the potential future economic and personal success of our students.  This focuses us on our key role in growing academic achievement, strengthening the emotional intelligence of our students and developing employability skills.

  • We have three simple messages to our children:  we want them to aspire, work hard and be kind.
  • We believe: every child can achieve greatness, fulfil their dreams, and live happy, successful lives.
  • We have an unwavering determination to achieve the highest standards of education, pastoral support and safeguarding, providing our students with every opportunity to succeed.

Our insistence on exemplary student behaviour provides strong foundations upon which all can thrive; staff and students alike. Disruption-free classrooms set the stage for excellent, enjoyable and purposeful learning.  But success is not just confined to classrooms. It is forged in theatres, on pitches, tracks, courts, in galleries and beyond.

It is our mission to discover and unleash the potential of every child. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch via enquiries@bulwellacademy.org.uk should you have any questions or concerns.
