South Hampstead High School is looking for a dynamic, energetic and inspirational part-time teacher to join a vigorous and strong English Department from September 2025.
As a Teacher of English, you will plan, prepare and deliver challenging, well-organised and stimulating English lessons to highly motivated and talented pupils from Years 7 to 13. You will also play a major role in the life of the school, sharing in pastoral and administrative duties and contributing to our vibrant programme of extra-curricular enrichment.
We are looking for a highly capable, enthusiastic and committed individual, who is willing to go above and beyond to provide the necessary pace and stretch for our bright, motivated girls. You will be an experienced teacher with a proven track record, or a well-qualified ECT/graduate, looking to begin your career in teaching.
The English Department
The Department is lively, active and held in high regard by pupils and staff. English is always one of the most popular A-Level subjects chosen and the pupils are enthused by advanced subject knowledge.
This is an exciting prospect for our teachers, providing us with the opportunity to teach such challenging texts as the poetry of John Milton, T.S.Eliot, Sylvia Plath, W.H.Auden and Langston Hughes, as well as plays such as Hamlet, The Tempest, Edward II, The Duchess of Malfi, Terry Johnson’s Hysteria and Danai Gurira’s The Convert.
We also offer a range of activities and trips, including two creative writing groups and curriculum theatre trips.
