Subject teacher: English

King Henry VIII College, Malaysia

Closing date for applications: 30th September

Job starts: August 2018

Contract type: Full Time

Contract term: 2 + 1 years

King Henry VIII College, Malaysia will take its first pupils in September 2018. It will be a fully-fledged sister school to Christ College, Brecon, one the UK’s oldest schools, founded by Henry VIII in 1541.

Like its Welsh sibling, King Henry VIII College will be a co-educational boarding and day school, with pupils from 5 to 18 years of age. We will share the values and ethos of Christ College, and make the most of our links in the UK and across the globe, ensuring we are very much an international school.

Christ College Brecon is set in the Brecon Beacons National Park - one of the most beautiful areas of the United Kingdom.

King Henry VIII College will have a rather more modern, urban setting in the Multi-Media Super Corridor hub that is Cyberjaya - a rapidly-developing planned township, mid-way between Kuala Lumpur City Centre and KL International Airport. The school will be an impressive modern campus, with outstanding, purpose-built facilities.

Work on the school is underway, and the Senior Management Team is already in place in Malaysia. A sizeable roll is expected in the first year of operation, with teacher recruitment planned to meet this demand.

Each teaching position presents a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced individual with a particular interest in being part of a new school, establishing its reputation.

The curriculum at King Henry VIII will be a recognisable British one, modelled on that at Christ College. We will cover a modern subject selection and pupils will sit Cambridge International IGCSE’s and AS/A levels, preparing them to go on to study at top universities world-wide.

Residential pastoral roles will also feature in the school’s staffing; applicants with an interest in this side of boarding school life should state this. All teachers are expected to contribute to the school’s tutorial system, and  to the general community life of KH8.

In 2016, as Christ College Brecon commemorated the 475th Anniversary of its founding, the school signed an agreement with DBH Holdings of Malaysia to set up its first international school.

Christ College was founded by King Henry VIII in 1541 by Royal Charter, and is a co-educational independent day and boarding school set in the Brecon Beacons National Park,

King Henry VIII College is located in the modern, global tech hub of Cyberjaya - a rapidly-developing planned township, mid-way between Kuala Lumpur City Centre and KL International Airport. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia, with an estimated population of 1.7 million.
