We are seeking a highly-motivated and passionate individual as a Teacher of English to join our English department. If successful, you would be working closely with our established team of 14 English teachers in promoting the highest standards of teaching and learning to support students of all backgrounds and abilities. As a department, we value teaching that is evidence-based, ensuring students are prepared for both later qualifications and building a full understanding of English Language and English Literature as academic disciplines.

As a school, we value and prioritise the continuing development of our staff. This comes in a variety of forms, thorough weekly teaching and learning workshops, INSET days and through our close links with the Wolds Teaching School Alliance. In the English department, we also prioritise subject-specific CPD, utilising our regular department meetings to develop both evidence-based pedagogy and rigorous subject knowledge.

Within The Education Alliance Multi Academy Trust, there are also further opportunities to develop and progress. As a trust, we are here to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives. We do this by always doing what is right, trusting in each other and standing shoulder to shoulder, and doing what we know makes a difference. Doing what is right means always acting with integrity, in the interests of others and being honest, open and transparent.

Driffield School is based in the heart of the bucolic Yorkshire Wolds and is easily accessible from local towns and cities (with commutes of 20 minutes from Beverley, 30 minutes from Scarborough and 40 mins from York or Hull).

Driffield School is on an exciting upward trajectory; we are immensely proud of our students and would welcome the opportunity to meet you and show you around our school community. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, or would like to visit us to see what we have to offer, please contact our Director of English (Richard McDonald) by email at

The closing date for applications is 5 pm on Monday 23 November and it is anticipated that interviews will be held week commencing 30 November 2021.

Driffield School & Sixth Form is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required prior to appointment.
