Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a full-time enthusiastic and committed teacher of English, who is able to teach to at least Key Stage 4, to join our busy and successful department.

The successful applicant must possess the ability to work as a part of a supportive team, be able to motivate and inspire our pupils to achieve their full potential and be willing to go the extra mile. High standards of work are essential as is a willingness to play a part in the extra-curricular activities of the school.

St. John’s is a co-educational, day school. Age range 11-18 and situated in 24 acres of green belt grounds. Average of 19 pupils per class.

We welcome applications from either an ambitious NQT or an experienced teacher.

St John’s Preparatory and Senior School is a mixed, independent, Christian day school with sixth form, situated in Enfield in Middlesex. The school is on two sites: the preparatory school is separated from the senior school by less than half a mile, yet it is one school, situated in a combined 30 acres of greenbelt countryside. There are 425 students aged 4-18 on the school roll, 240 of whom are in the senior school and sixth form.

Values and vision

St John’s Preparatory and Senior School believes that a good education can instil discipline – the ability to do what you have to do, when it ought to be done, and to do it well. Teachers aim for everything they do to be an indispensable aspect of a fine education. The school believes the smiling faces evident in any prospectus, such as the scenes of football and other games, are essential to an effective learning environment.

“The school provides an outstanding quality of education and most pupils make outstanding progress from their original starting points. The quality of teaching and learning is outstanding and so is pupils’ behaviour. As at the time of the last inspection, the school has maintained high standards in public examinations, particularly at GCSE and A level. The curriculum is good and outstanding provision is made for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.”
